Kaselehlia from the Sustainable Tourism & Research Division at SPTO.
In this issue of the Sustainable Tourism Newsbeat, our feature country is the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM). A key highlight in this issue is the Micronesian Challenge, which recently celebrated 15 years of progress since the original Micronesia Challenge commitments in 2006.
Other focus areas include the FSM Plastics Repurposing Training Workshop held from 27-29 April and developments in Research and Statistics. As part of the Pacific Tourism Waste Action Initiative (PTWAI) – the Plastics Repurposing Workshop was a great success and garnered significant support from the Honorable First Lady, Ms. Patricia Edwin.
We hope you will enjoy reading the stories and information in this issue and that it will continue to inspire support and wider awareness on the importance of sustainable tourism, as tourism development gradually evolves and takes shape in our region.
SPTO acknowledge, with great appreciation, the positive contributions of the FSM Division of Tourism and we look forward to delivering the next issue which will feature the Kingdom of Tonga!
