A team from SPTO is in Tuvalu for two weeks to conduct a Plastics Repurposing Workshop and Hospitality Training in preparation for the Leaders Forum in August. The trainings are held in conjunction with the, Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Trade, Tourism Environment and Labour towards support for the Leaders Forum.

The Plastics Repurposing Workshop conducted by Warwick Marlow, a renowned Fiji artisan was attended by 30 participants from eight communities. Participants learnt how to make jewelry and home décor from waste plastic bottles.  The workshop is the second of its kind, the first in Fiji in early 2019  and is a major project implemented by the SPTO Sustainable Tourism Development Division.

SPTO appointed ServicePro Training and Consultancy Services of Fiji to conduct the Hospitality training on June 25-July 4. This training is for communities and youth groups providing catering services for the Leaders meeting. The training covers pertinent areas such as Food & Beverage Trainingm Food Safety, Hygeine and Handling, Customer Service and Housekeeping.
