Through the SPTO, TAK CEO, Petero Manufolau, has completed the Sustainable Tourism Training Program conducted by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC). The training will assist TAK as they prepare for the development of the Kiribati Sustainable Tourism Policy, will provide the parameter on which the Kiribati National Tourism Development Master Plan (2021 – 2036) will be developed.

The GSTC Sustainable Tourism Training Program (STTP) offers practical insights and effective steps to improving sustainability practices and will enable a better understanding of the global sustainable tourism movement and how sustainable practices can be localized to suit the Kiribati context.

Other Pacific representatives in the training included Hudson Kaefia from the Solomon Islands, Sieni Tiraa from the Cook Islands, Gregil Tomaki from Vanuatu and Anastasia Dujmovic from the Republic of the Marshall Islands.

Further information on GSTC training programs may be accessed here.
