Ms. Madisen Hiebert, a Business Administration student from Manitoba, Canada has recently joined the SPTO team in Suva for a 3-month internship.  Madisen is the second intern from the Semester in Development-Fiji program coordinated by Insights Global Education, a Vancouver-based social enterprise with a mission to change the attitudes and perceptions towards developing countries while helping students to create meaningful international relationships and develop skills relevant to the global job market.

“As a business student, I know that getting experience is crucial and there is no better way to learn than by doing. I enjoy discovering new things, and the Pacific’s business environment is unique compared to where I come from”, says Hiebert.

“SPTO welcomes Madisen to the team and we look forward to innovative ideas and ways to help our small-medium enterprises and local communities gain better value from sustainable tourism”, says Christopher Cocker, SPTO Chief Executive Officer.

Providing support to the Sustainable Tourism Development Division, the University of Winnipeg student is keen to contribute to the objectives of the organisation and get the most out of her internship.

“My main pull is learning how organizations are run and how they function, whilst also looking at finding ways to support the growth of businesses in the sector.  I feel SPTO is a great place to do that”, says Hiebert.
