Sieni Tiraa, Destination Development Coordinator for the Cook Islands Tourism Marketing Corporation, has completed the Sustainable Tourism Training Program conducted by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC). Sieni’s participation was enabled through support from SPTO, who also supported other Pacific Islands representatives from the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu the Republic of the Marshall Islands and Kiribati.
The GSTC Sustainable Tourism Training Program (STTP) strengthens understanding of the global sustainable tourism movement and how sustainable practices can be tailored to suit the local context.
In acknowledging the opportunity Sieni noted the timeliness of her participation in the training program.
“This is a very valuable course for the implementation of sustainable tourism practices and has come at a time when we are in a position to do so, as we reset our industry”, she said.
